PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk (Telkom) is running a program called Indonesian Digital Community (Indigo) Fellowship 2010 and has set aside a budget of $1.65 million to invest in startup companies in Indonesia. The goals of the fellowship is to gather creativepreuneurs in the creative industry and become an incubator for startups in the information, communication and technology creative industry. According to Widi Nugroho, Executive General Manager, Multimedia Division, Telkom, on Friday, July 9, 2010, more than 1,000 startups have submitted their creative idea to Telkom through this fellowship. “This year, we took the initiative and invite them to show their creativity. From about 1,000 applications, we had selected only 11 finalists,” he said.
The theme of this year fellowship is “Digitalpreneur for National Character Building”. There are several categories the applicants can submit their idea for, retail/consumer, small and medium business, enterprise, and rural/maritime solutions. According to Widi, wining ideas will be selected based on four factors: innovation, business/revenue model, founder(s)’s background, and social impact.
